DISTRICT CONFERENCE
 
District Conference 2024 will be hosted by the James Street/ Speightstown Circuit from January 18-22 at the Ivan Harewood Conference Centre, Christ Church Parish Church, Christ Church.
 
The theme for the Conference is: “Renewed in Christ, Committed to a new Caribbean: Transformed and Called to be Ambassadors”.
 
You are invited to share in the following Public Events:
 
(1) Flag raising and Opening Ceremony Friday January 18, 1:30 p.m. -3:30 p.m. Ivan Harewood Conference Centre.
 
(2) Daily Public Worship on January 16-22, 7:00 a.m.-8:00 a.m. on the District Facebook page and YouTube Channel.
 
(3) Memorial Service for Reverends Sheldon Dewsbury, Oscar Millar and Colton Bennett will be held on Saturday January 20, at 6:00 a.m. at the Hawthorn Memorial Chapel.
 
(4) Sunday, January 21, the District Conference Welcome Service at 4:30 p.m. at the James Street Chapel.

(5) Ordination Service for Rev. Tene Joseph- Yapp on Friday January 26, 6:00 p.m. at the James Street Chapel.

TRIAL SERVICES
 
Two of our Local Preachers will be conducting Trial Services in preparation for their accreditation.
 
These are Bro. Jason Clarke and Sis. Dr. Evelyn McCollin.
 
These services will take place as follows.
 
(1) January 28, 2024 – Dalkeith at 6: 00 p.m. Bro. Jason Clarke.
 
(2) February 11, 2024, – Belmont at 6: 00 p.m. Sis. Dr. Evelyn McCollin.

A SIGN OF LOVE
 
On Sunday February 04, 2024, at 5:00 p.m., the Providence Methodist Church will present “A Sign of Love”, a concert featuring the Barbados Defence Force Band, the acclaimed Ryan Boyce along with Paula Hinds, Mikey Mercer and other exciting artistes.

MYJT EVENTS
 
The Emerging Adults Team of MYJT (Methodist Youth Journeying Together) invites the youth to a Bible Study Series on the Wesley Covenant Prayer at the following times and venues:

The South Caribbean District of the MCCA Methodist Training Institute (MTI) will be offering a myriad of online courses.
 
Kindly note that Semester 2 of The Methodist Training Institute begins January 08, 2024 and ends March 24, 2024.

STUDY TIMETABLES
 
 The Bethel Circuit Organizations and Education Committee will be offering study timetables for secondary school students who are experiencing challenges with balancing their academics and other activities.
 
Should there be students who are desirous of this ministry, their parents are encouraged to make contact with Sis. Natalie Phillips via mobile at 234-0750.
 
FREE TUTORIALS
 
 The Bethel Circuit Organizations & Education Committee in partnership with a secondary school in Barbados is once again offering tutoring free of cost to students who are experiencing academic challenges in various subject areas in Forms 1-5 of secondary school.
 
Kindly note that the students who tutor are in the Sixth Form cohort.
 
The tutoring can be arranged either in person or virtually. Students who are interested in participating in such sessions, their parents can contact Sis. Natalie Phillips via phone at 234-0750.
 
MUSIC MINISTRY
 
Persons are invited, especially men and young people who would like to join the Ministry of Music, to give their names to any Congregational Steward. We also encourage children of any age to join so that later a Junior Choir may be formed. “Come and let us make a joyful noise unto the Lord.”
 
SUNLIGHT BIBLE STUDY
 
On Thursday April 20, 2023 Sunlight Bible Study resumed at the Providence Methodist Church. Rev. Pearson Blackman will facilitate these sessions every Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 (noon).
 
PRAYER FELLOWSHIP
 
Prayer Fellowship at the Providence Methodist Church has resumed and occurs each Saturday at the chapel from 8am.
 
PEER TUTORING / MENTORSHIP
 
Members are asked to note that the Bethel Circuit Organizations & Education Committee in partnership with a Secondary School in Barbados will be offering peer tutoring/mentorship for students who are enrolled in Secondary Schools (First Form to Fifth Form Students) and who are experiencing academic challenges in a specific subject area.
 
The peer tutoring will be facilitated by Lower 6th and Upper 6 Students who have volunteered to assist students who might be experiencing challenges academically. The programme is pro bono (free of cost) and will be coordinated virtually once per week, based on the availability of each individual.
 
Should there be any parents who are desirous of seizing this opportunity, you are encouraged to make contact with Sis. Natalie Phillips via mobile at 234-0750.

The Bethel Circuit Organizations & Education Committee will be offering Study Timetables/Time Management Schedules to students who are challenged with organizing assignments/homework/School Based Assessments.

A Building Fund Collection will be taken every 4th Sunday monthly.
COVID-19 PROTOCOLS WHILE ATTENDING WORSHIP
 
ALL PERSONS ATTENDING WORSHIP are reminded that the following Government of Barbados protocols must be adhered to:
– Have their hands sanitized
– Wear a mask to cover your Mouth and Nose.
– Place tithes and offerings in the baskets on arrival.
– Maintain physical distancing of 3 feet between each worshipper. However, families can sit together.
– Hymnals and Bibles should be brought from home.
– Those at the sanctuary will not be available
– There is to be NO congregating before or after worship.
REV. RICHARDS INDUCTED
 
THE SOUTH CARIBBEAN DISTRICT CONFERENCE 2018 has elected Rev. Derick A. Richards as President/Bishop of the District effective September 1, 2018.  He will serve for the triennium 2018-2021.
 
Rev. Richards was inducted on the 26th August 2018 at a service at the James Street Methodist Church, Barbados.

Twin sisters Gabriella and Jasmine became the newest members of the Providence congregation during the Sacrament of Holy Baptism on the 27th May 2018.
 
 
 
WELCOME KAYLA WEBB!
 
During the Sacrament of Holy Baptism on the 28th January 2018, the congregation welcomed little Kayla Webb.
 
 
 
ORDAINED! 
 
On behalf of the congregation at Providence congratulations are extended to our Minister Capt. Rev Al Walcott who was ordained in St. Vincent on Thursday 18 January 2018. You are encouraged to remember him and his family in your prayers
 
ANNEX REDEDICATION
 
The Providence Church Annex was rededicated on December 31st, 2017 during a short ceremony that was led by Rev. Al Walcott. The annex now boasts of improved facilities and will be utilised as we continue our recovery efforts from the loss of the auditorium.
