MINISTRIES & ACTIVITIES

Established in 1970 the Providence Women’s League is a fellowship of women seeking to do God’s will and support each other while facing the daily challenges of life.

The activities are centred on spiritual development, general education, social and recreational events, outreach and fund raising. These activities equip members to be of service in the church, home and community.
The Providence Men’s Fellowship was started in 1985 and has been an integral part of the church. The fellowship sponsors many of the church’s physical development projects  and these funds are primarily raised through an annual pre-Father’s Day concert.

Other activities include assisting shut-in members and visitation. All men, young and old, are welcome to get involved!
The Providence Methodist Church School assists in the spiritual development of its students and younger persons within the community. Except for Youth Sundays, it meets every Sunday morning around 10:00am.

The children also participate in activities such as Youth Services, Christmas Programmes, Harvest Cantatas, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Youth Exchanges and Retreats.
The Providence Church Choir is involved in the music ministry of the church and they minister and provide leadership on a weekly basis
in the Sunday morning worship service and other special events.

There are some who have been ministering in the choir for over 50 years. Why? They will tell you “I love to sing.” Do you love to sing?,
Psalm 34:1 – “I will bless the Lord at all times. His praise shall continually be on my mouth.”
That’s the mantra for the team: to praise God with their whole being.

New Journeys began its journey on Good Friday, 2016 and has ministered for the Harvest Cantata, Men’s Fellowship concerts and continues to minister during Sunday worship and other special engagements.
While the ministry of dance has been around from 1984, the current dance group, Expressions of Praise, was formerly christened in 2004.

They meet on Thursday evenings at 6pm and  minister across the island. Members not only attend dance workshops but have ensured that Bible Study & Prayer are now essential elements of their ministry.
The Sunlight Bible Study commenced mid 2016 and is held each Thursday morning commencing at 9:30am.

The thought-provoking sessions are led by Rev. Pearson Blackman. Come on out and share!
You are invited to come on out on Wednesday evenings and join others in an in-depth look at The Word.

Sessions commence with devotions at 7:15pm and the current theme under study is “This We Believe!”
The Prayer Group intercedes for the church, community and wider world – including the government and the entire body of Christ.

Their objective is to see that all men are saved. The group engages in the study of the word to equip themselves for spiritual battles.

The Providence Methodist Children’s Fellowship caters to children ages 5 – 14 years. Sessions are held on Wednesdays and Fridays from 3.30 p.m. until 5.30 p.m. during the school terms.

It caters to the spiritual, physical, intellectual, emotional and social development of the children. Activities include assistance with school work, reading the Bible, praying, singing, cooking and games.
VBS is hosted by the Church School each summer for about 4 weeks. It is a fun-filled, outreach ministry that provides an opportunity for children in the wider community to learn more about God.

Members of the church usually assist by taking on the role of counsellors, leading sessions or providing sponsorship. What will be your role?
