Membership in the Methodist Church
WHAT IS THE METHODIST CHURCH
Within the one holy, catholic and apostolic Church the Methodist Church is the communion which was brought into being by the Holy Spirit, chiefly through the work of John Wesley, and continues as a witness to the universal grace of God, to the gift of assurance by the Holy Spirit, and to the power of the Holy Spirit to make us perfect in love.
“All need to be saved. All may be saved. All may know themselves saved. All may be saved to the uttermost.”
Methodists have always been clear that no-one is beyond the reach of God’s love. Salvation is there for everyone who turns to God, and not just for a chosen few.
MEMBERS OF THE METHODIST CHURCH
Although you do belong to the church when you just regularly attend, the Methodist church offers the chance to show another step of commitment by being confirmed and received into membership.
All persons are welcomed into membership who sincerely desire to be saved from their sins through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and evidence the same life and conduct, and who seek to have fellowship with Christ Himself and His people by taking up the duties and privileges of the Methodist Church.
HOW DO I BECOME A MEMBER (OF PROVIDENCE METHODIST CHURCH)
Confirmation is a call to faith in Jesus Christ, a call to grow in faith, a call to be part of a congregation and a call to live one’s faith in the community and the world. The confirmation class is designed to help participants to see and accept Jesus Christ as the Saviour and Lord of their lives. The classes also help them to develop and maintain disciplines which will enable them to grow spiritually. These disciplines are Bible Study, Prayer, Worship and Fellowship. Participants are encouraged to live the Christian life, to bear witness to Christ in their daily life to be active in Christian service and to participate in the fellowship of the church.
Persons who are desirous of becoming members of the Methodist Church through the Providence Congregation are requested to submit their names to any Congregational Steward or email their request to provmeth@caribsurf.com.
